My professional path began with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. My passion for working with youth led me to a residential treatment facility for young individuals on probation, where I discovered my deep interest in helping those in need. This drive prompted me to pursue a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California, solidifying my path as a therapist and advocate. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience working with children and adolescents in community mental health agencies, and later returned to the residential treatment facility, where I took on roles as a therapist and clinical supervisor. It was during this time that I decided to venture into private practice, becoming both a therapist and a small business owner. My work is not only professionally fulfilling but also deeply personal, informed by my experiences as a wife and mother of two wonderful boys. One of my children is autistic, non-speaking, and has developmental delays, which introduced me to a world I hadn't previously encountered. With unwavering dedication, I have embraced this journey with open-mindedness, a thirst for knowledge about autism, and a fierce commitment to creating an inclusive and affirming environment for my son. I actively engage with and listen to the autistic community, implementing their insights into my work both as a mother and as a therapist to autistic adolescents and adults. I also serve as an advocate for my son within the school system, attending meetings and committees, educating others about affirming practices, and challenging ableist practices. Most notably, I have organized a personal support/social group for families with special needs children, fostering a sense of community and mutual assistance in navigating the unique challenges we all face. My story is a testament to my profound dedication to my family, my clients, and my mission to make the world more inclusive and accepting for all. My interests outside of my professional and family life are fairly basic. I make sure to dedicate time to weightlifting and exploring nature with my labradoodle, Mikey. I always stress the importance of self-care and finding joy in physical activities and the great outdoors…and reality television; we all have our guilty pleasures, and it's a fun way to unwind and enjoy some entertainment. Estoy capacitada y certificada en diferentes modalidades de tratamiento y tengo más de 13 años de experiencia trabajando en el campo de la salud mental.
